HOW TO BE A BOSS BRIDESMAID.

It’s a special honour and privilege to be asked to be a bridesmaid, whether its for a family member or friend. Having someone that would love you to be by their side through out their wedding experience is a pretty awesome! However bridesmaid duties shouldn’t finish after the hen-do, a boss bridesmaid should make sure that their bride continues to have the best day ever right through into the night. Want to know my top tips? Read below.

PREP

During prep, make sure your bride is fed and watered so pop that Prosecco to celebrate but make sure they also drink plenty of water to stay hydrated to avoid any headaches. It’s likely your bride will also be a little nervous on the morning so play some tunes to lift the mood and distract from any anxious thoughts. Also don’t forget to avoid any stresses with your bride if they occur, your bride doesn’t need to know of any mishaps if they can be easily resolved without them.

getting dressed

Always get ready before the bride. This means that if you need to help your bride get into their dress, you can do this whilst also looking fabulous in the photos. A bonus point is to help keep the prep room tidy, so that your bride can have some bad ass portraits of them in their dress without lots of stuff in the background. No one wants to see an orange Sainsbury’s bag or half eaten croissants in the background of their photos. And no as a photographer we can’t always just edit that crap out!

CEREMONY

It’s understandable that as a bridesmaid you may also be feeling a little nervous walking down that aisle which is totally fine! But unless you’re crying happy tears, don’t forget to smile! Your bride will want to see your face when they look back at the photos, so keep your head high and smile to those around you. Top tip - when your bride gets to the end of the aisle, don’t forget to fluff that dress if it has a train and also take the bouquet so they can hold hands with their loved one - it looks cuter in photos!

FAMILY PHOTOS

A job that the couple will forever appreciate is helping round up family for the group photos. It’s the couples least favourite part of the day so they will be super grateful if you help make this process as quick as possible alongside the photographer. Ask them for a list of their group photos and help make it efficient so that not only they can get back to drinking and eating but spending more time with you and guests!

Now get ready for the bridesmaid photos! It’s your time to shine so bring all the smiles (and bouquets), be silly, sassy and fun! These group photos are all about energy and making your bride feel loved so make her laugh! Your bride will want to look back at photos of you all having the best time together.

A FEW WORDS

Traditionally only males give speeches but we’re living in 2022 so I think it’s about time to break that tradition! Brides have funny stories too so let’s not just leave it to the best man to crack some jokes. Not only will your bride appreciate the kind words but they will be grateful for the effort and for adding to their day.

THE DANCE FLOOR

As the bridal party, it’s your duty to keep the party alive! You’re bride will want a night to remember and no one wants an empty dance floor on their wedding day. So grab the gang and show everyone how it’s done! Make sure your bride is dancing and request the songs she loves.
